Stockton's BMTI Joins National Benefit Advisors Network
Benefit Advisors Network has Network has selected Benefit Management Technologies, Inc. (BMTI) of Stockton, California as the newest member of the premier national network of independent benefit advisory and consulting companies.
“Like other members of Benefit Advisors Network, BMTI was chosen specifically for its industry knowledge, ethics, and vision,” says Network Director Deane Elek. She adds that membership in Benefit Advisors Network “represents a prestigious validation that a firm has been recognized as the ‘best of the best’ in its particular geographic market.”
Benefit Advisors Network members are able to provide their clients with a heightened level of clout, resources, and expertise that is unequaled by any other firm in their marketplace. The organization delivers leading tools, technology, and expertise to its member firms so that they, in turn, can deliver optimum results for their clients.
Membership also allows selected benefits brokers and consultants to compete on a national scale, giving them the capabilities and leverage of a national organization, while enhancing their focus and flexibility as a local partner and neighbor.
“Unlike large national firms, though, BMTI and other Benefit Advisors Network members are unencumbered by stockholder expectations,” Elek explains. “Rather, member firms can stay focused on and responsive to the needs and expectations of their clients, taking advantage of the resources that a national network provides while bringing an understanding of what local employers need and want.”
Celebrating its 76th anniversary this year, BMTI was founded in 1932 by William “Bill” Stemler (the grandfather of the current president) as the Stemler Insurance Agency. In 1954, then President Bill Stemler and Boyd Thompson were instrumental in establishing the San Joaquin Foundation for Medical Care, which stood for years as the cornerstone for health care in the Central Valley community. Due to its design and success, many other California communities developed foundations patterned on the San Joaquin model.
Carrying on the Stemler legacy, BMTI continues to be a pioneer in the field of employee and retiree benefits, proposing and working with carriers to develop and manage innovative and highly effective health care solutions for individuals, and commercial and public entity groups.
In the 15 years, BMTI has actively developed, managed, and serviced Retiree Group Healthcare in the California Central Valley. This includes StanCERA since 1992 in a capacity that evolved from broker to consultant, with services including TPA, premium accounting, consolidated billing, customer service, consulting, and broker services. In 2007, BMTI established a relationship with Fresno County to provide services for both their retiree population, as well as their COBRA and LOA members.
